Impropr Grammr
They were alone, he and she.
Backs against the world,
Faces towards the heavens:
Not a human soul nearby.
Yet wildlife lingers;
A bluepurplesilver dragonfly flutters past their feet;
Greenyelloworangered leaves of trees
Stencil dark, geometric shadows onto their bodies.
Painstakingly perfect - like a cookie cutter.
They were alone, he and she.
Left alone to gaze at the clouds:
Swirls, curlicues, swoops, dots.
Synergy, these nonsensical shapes and lines form:
A German Shepard's head; a compressed hamburger; a sailboat;
So they can sail to the tip of the world,
To the edge of the sea.
Through rough terrain, a
i sink in one foot at a time
with the same anticipation
i would have while stepping into
the shadow of your naked body
if you were standing in front of me
i submerge myself
in the depths of lonely night
water hot with the scent
of your breath
if you were breathing on me
instead of the steam that
pricks my skin
and rises like your
face above mine would
if you were here.
i lay back slowly
letting it run through my hair
as your fingers would
if you were here
and it rises past my shoulders
drowning them in streams
of heat as you would
with your tongue
if you were here
it encircles my breasts
where your tongue would pai
How can I tell you what you mean to me?
When the words of a thousand languages will not suffice,
I turn to poetry, the language of the soul,
to see if it can translate the message of my heart.
I don't remember exactly when we met,
don't even remember when we became best friends.
What I do remember is one day thinking to myself
and realizing that I loved you in a way...
A love that defied explanation or description,
stronger than anything I'd felt before,
sweeter than any that I could've had
for some girl who blew me kisses or flashed me smiles.
Purer than any other love, because loving you
is what taught me what loving someone is
